Itmad ud Daulah, was commissioned by Nur Jahan, the wife of Jahangir, for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg, who had been given the title of Itmad ud Daulah (pillar of the state). Mirza Ghiyas Beg was also the grandfather of Mumtaz Mahal.
