Gujarat – summary
We started at the eastern end with Baroda and Ahmedabad, worked our way southwest through Saurashtra, then north through Kutchch and finally back west, ending with the wonderful monuments in Modhera and Patan.
Last day in Gujarat!
We were at the gate of Modhera’s Sun temple by 11:30am and were pleasantly surprised to see a nice lawn stretching out beyond the main entrance.
Desert Coursers Camp
Desert Coursers was recommended to us by Madhu’s friend Soumya who had stayed with them earlier on and had completely enjoyed the experience.
Wild Ass Sanctuary Pictures
Little Rann of Kutch is the world’s last refuge of the Indian Wild Ass for the conservation of which it has been declared as the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary.
Desert Coursers Camp
Desert Coursers, was started in 1984 by the descendants of Nawab Zainkhan. They provide environment friendly cottages, locally known as Koobas.

We’d read a lot about the landscape of Rann, but seeing it in person was an absolutely unreal experience!
Hotel Prince & Hotel Shiv, Bhuj
Hotel Prince is said to be the 1st 3-star hotel in Kutchch. LP had recommended it so we knew it would be one of the best places to stay. And it was!
Second day in Bhuj
Our next stop was the village of Ajrakhpuram. Here we were taken to Dr. Ismail Mohammed Khatri’s block-printing office, where we met him in person.
