PONDICHERRY TRAVEL GUIDE

Pondicherry, the French Riviera of the East, was part of French India till 1956. It still retains an extremely relaxed, laid-back and distinctly Gallic feel. Many of its streets have retained their French names and are lined with colonial era buildings with long compounds and stately walls. Auroville (technically in Tamil Nadu), the experimental township is a short drive away.
