Moreover, the hotel, its rooms and staff are all quite nice – so it’s got to be popular! We got a decent-sized non a/c, double room with a Sony color television and ample storage. We liked it immediately.

This was in absolute ruins and we couldn’t even picture what it must have looked like in its original glory. He told us that roots of trees had started growing along the walls, cracking it at most places.
The colorful three-storey Nagar Sheth Haveli has porticoes, carved balconies, stone-made lions and intricate arches in European and Indian styles.
We bumped into Bharat outside Nagar Sheth’s Haveli. He was more than happy to let us into his havelis. This was the highlight of our Diu trip. We had a great time browsing though his family heirlooms.
The fort was built in 1535 AD subsequent to a defense alliance forged by Bahadur Shah, the Sultan of Gujarat and the Portuguese when Humayun, the Mughal Emperor waged war to annex this territory.
A 20 min. refreshing drive from the town through the open arid land and dense coconut groves brings you to the Nagoa Beach. It is located in the Nagoa hamlet of the village of Bucharwada.
We immediately took off towards Nagoa beach, which is about 4km west of Diu city. The road runs parallel to the coastline and is quite scenic. There was hardly any traffic so it was absolutely peaceful and stress-free.
