All of our Photography Tours are led and conducted by highly acclaimed professional photographer Dheeraj Paul, who as a dedicated photography educator brings insight and enthusiasm in his workshops held across India. His straight forward teaching style appeals to participants of all skill levels. He has been invited twice for the International Jury by the Humanity Photo Awards (2009 & 2011), which was jointly organized by the China Folklore Photographic Association and UNESCO.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 Delhi to Jaipur

Depart from New Delhi at 530 AM to arrive at Jaipur by 1130 AM. Here you will be staying at a luxury heritage haveli built in the 1860s, which is an oasis in the heart of Rajasthan’s famous pink city of Jaipur. Surrounded by acres of beautifully manicured gardens, this traditional haveli is a haven of peace and tranquility located 5 minutes from the bustling old walled city of Jaipur.

Post lunch have a casual & interactive discussion with the Director of Photography, Dheeraj Paul.

As the sun sets over the hills, arrive at Jal Mahal (Water Palace) where the shadows and reflections across the water provide excellent potential for some creative evening shots. Later during dinner at the hotel we will have a thorough review of all shots clicked during the course of Day 1, a critical examination of day’s progress.

Day 2 Amber Fort, Samode and Chowki Dhani

india-photography-tours-08The day will start with an early move out from the resort in order to catch the sunrise from Amber fort as the morning light offers a perfect canvas for some amazing pictures which will later be reviewed at the breakfast table. Experience how the city explodes into a kaleidoscope of color and sound with every new day.

Post breakfast, travel by road to an erstwhile royal principality located 40 km from the historic city of Jaipur. Samode is set amidst the hills of the Aravalli range. Get mesmerized by the quiet simplicity of the stark landscape with its slim paths winding between fields of cauliflower and golden mustard, a few hardy trees, an endless clear view that leads up to the fortressed hills and clear skies. The magnificence of the imposing Samode Palace offers perfect picture opportunities. Join us for lunch at Hotel Samode Palace which offers you the unique experience of Royal Rajasthan .

Travel towards Tonk road and arrive at Chowki Dhani resort and get engrossed by the amazing cultural programs & capture some unusual shots of Rajasthani village life.

Dinner back at Diggi Palace and the photographs clicked during the day will be reviewed at the dinner table with the photo experts.

Day 3 Jaipur to Rohetgarh

india-photography-tours-04In the morning head out towards Rohetgarh. On the way you will get an opportunity to interact with the local population and click subjects such as village alleys, headgears, turbans – all in their vibrant best.

Arrive at Rohetgarh by 4 PM.

At Rohetgarh stay at a Heritage Hotel, which over the last 15 years has been nurtured and developed with great love and care by the royal family themselves into one of the finest heritage hotels in the country. It is situated on the banks of a lake and set in the midst of rural surroundings which invites a multitude of birds including peacocks.

Relax and have evening tea in this haven of peace & tranquility and later enjoy a swim in the pool.

Rohetgarh boasts of one of the finest stables of Marwari horses in the country. The Marwari horse’s sensitive disposition and its beautiful, free flowing gait make it a delight to ride & photograph. Our close liaison with the royal family allows us special opportunities to experience, click and cherish these beautiful animals.

Post clicking the horses and the setting sun over the lake, settle down for a sumptuous meal at the poolside restaurant.
Retire for the night at well-appointed, individually decorated rooms that add a touch of class.

Day 4 Day trip to the Blue City of Jodhpur

india-photography-tours-09Post breakfast head to Jodhpur, a fort city surrounded by a stone wall with seven gates along with a number of citadels. It is the second biggest city in Rajasthan. It was set up in 1459 AD by Rao Jodha. Post lunch visit the Mehrangarh Fort to click it in its full glamour and take some amazing shots of the sunset over the blue city.

Return back to Rohetgarh for a short stroll near the lake or interact with the village locals to get a feel for their way of life.

Day 5 Village Safari & Jaisalmer

Post breakfast leave by All Terrain Vehicles on the most exciting and signature Village Safari. This is a complete cultural experience, and includes everything this region has to offer. From the warm and hospitable people, to the various customs and ceremonies and the abundant wildlife.

Our participants have the rare privilege of being welcomed into people’s homes and interacting with them. They get to experience and understand a way of life that takes them closer to their roots. This unique tour is made possible solely because of the host family’s special relationship with the local communities, which allows rare access into every home visited, where guests are welcomed as their very own.

india photography toursYou will also get a chance to meet the ‘premier ecologists of the world’, the Bishnois, who have protected nature for more than 500 years and are responsible for the very survival of various species including the Black Buck antelope, a rare and protected species. They share a beautiful relationship with this maginificent animal, wherein the antelopes stay close to Bishnoi habitation, never leaving it, and displays complete trust in the Bishnoi people. You will also meet the Raikas (shepherds) with their colorful costumes, and the Paliwals and Meghwals, the Brahmin farmers and weavers. A world of wonderful cultural extravaganza & Dheeraj will be there to guide you with the finer touches required in Village & Cultural Photography.

Later head to Jaisalmer, set in the midst of the Thar desert. You will notice a gradual change in terrain as we approach Jaisalmer around noon. Jaisalmer is also known as the Golden City due to its lovely sandstone hues.

On arrival head straight to the heritage hotel where we freshen up, grab a quick bite and head to the city and start shooting this amazing city.

As the sun begins to set, we visit Gadsisar Lake which is a rain water conservation lake built by Maharawal Gadsi in 14th century with many small temples dotting the periphery. A wide variety of water birds can be seen here especially during winter. This is a popular location to click photographs of Jaisalmer Fort when it shows hues of gold with the last rays of the setting sun.

Later stroll through bustling markets to get a closer look at this beautiful city.

Day 6 Jaisalmer

india photography toursPost breakfast head out to Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Quila or Golden Fort, which rises from the sand and merges with the golden hues of the desert – a perfect canvas for any photographer. The brilliant desert sun, alternately bathing, baking and caressing the landscape, turning ancient sandstone walls into honeyed reflectors that bounce a diffused golden light into the nooks and crannies of the fortress streets.

Spend the afternoon shooting the bustling market & ancient temples with the old fortified doorways creating frames for your compositions. And as we dine after sundown, you’ll appreciate how perfect this town is for photographers.

Equipment for the Tour

Don’t be hesitant to bring your own cameras and lenses – whether point and shoot, compact digital, 35mm Digital SLR or even analog.

Suggested Lenses :

  • Basic Lenses for DSLR Full Frame – 16~35mm zoom, 24~105mm zoom, 70~200mm zoom or 70~300mm zoom, 50mm, 400mm or 600mm
  • Basic Lenses for APS-C DSLR : 18~55mm zoom, 55~300mm zoom, 18~135mm zoom or 18~200mm, 10~20mm zoom, 35mm and 400mm

Our experienced shoot director will guide you to shoot creative and meaningful images with your existing equipment. It is not the camera but the eye behind it which is important to capture and freeze the moments. You will learn how to make best use of your equipment in different situations. Knowing your equipment is very important before you practically start taking pictures.

We will provide you with full back up support. We are equipped with the state-of-the-art laptops, cloud based network storage drives, DVD burners, professional photo ink-jet printers, camera tripods and miscellaneous accessories.
