A specially designed angling trip on various sections of the Ramganga River for Mahseer and Goonch. This itinerary will include jeep drives and 10-60 mins walk on trails and riverbeds.

Ramganga River

The spring-fed, clear Ramganga is the main lifeline of Corbett Tiger Reserve. This river has a very healthy population of fish including Mahaseer and Goonch. The upper section of the river is picturesque with valleys and terraced fields.

Itinerary

india angling corbett national park Day 1 : Arrive at Camp by lunch. Post lunch head out on an escorted nature and bird walk into the Sal forests surrounding camp. This is an excellent opportunity to walk in the cool of the forest, to be so close to nature and to appreciate the varied plants, insects, birds, mammals and reptiles that inhabit this part of the country. Return to the camp by sundown for campfire and dinner.

Day 2 : Early morning depart the Camp by jeep for the Ramganga River with your fishing guide and a packed meal. The whole day will be spent angling on the Ramganga River. Day 3 : Depart early in morning on a 4 hour jeep ride for the upper Ramganga section. Arrive at the campsite by the river and spend the remaining day on various sections of the river. Return to the campsite by evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 : Head back to the river early in the morning with your fishing guide. Spend the whole day angling on this section. Return to the base camp by evening for dinner and overnight stay in camping tents.

Day 5 : Spend the morning angling on the upper Ramganga River. Later pack up and drive back to camp. Arrive at the camp by evening for campfire and dinner.

Day 6 : Post breakfast depart to your onward destination.

Equipment required

Fly Fishing : A 7wt fly rod (and aim for smaller fish only). india angling corbett national parkThe preferred flies during October to March are nymphs and streamers. Dry flies are best for summer (April- June).

For Spinning : An 8-10 ft rod rated for up to 20 pound line. Spinners can be used in still water and deep pools, mepps aglia 4 or 5 are good.

For Bait : Spoons between 1-3 inches – silvered spoons work the best. Any spoon which is plain on one side and shiny on the other could have some very interesting possibilities.
