Itinerary

Days 1-2 Delhi

An assault of colors, smells and sounds, chaotic Delhi is a truly fascinating city. Find a quiet corner in India’s largest mosque, visit the Sikh temple and meander through the spice bazaars of Old Delhi.

Days 3-4 Agra

Visit the breathtaking Taj Mahal of Agra, built by former emperor Shah Jahan in honor of his true love. Later see the monumental 17th-century Red Fort, Shah Jahan’s Agra home. The next day visit Fatehpur Sikri, once the capital of the Mughal Empire, which has a wonderful set of monuments including the Buland Darwaza, Fatehpur Sikri Fort, Tomb of Salim Chishti, and the Panch Mahal.

Days 5-6 Orchha

Stroll through rural areas largely untouched by modern life and explore the crumbling palaces and temples of Orchha that are scattered throughout the countryside. Take in the puja ceremony at Ram Raja Temple.

Days 7-8 Bandhavgarh National Park

Venture deep into the wilderness of the Bandhavgarh National Park. With luck, glimpse tigers, wild boar, jackals and porcupines.

Days 9-10 Khajuraho

See beautifully preserved ancient temples featuring erotic carvings of the Kama Sutra.

Days 11-12 Varanasi

Walk through the bathing ghats choked with pilgrims, temples full of incense, and narrow shop-filled alleyways.

Day 14 Delhi

Enjoy the Delhi’s sights. Humayun’s Tomb boasts exquisite early Mughal architecture and the surrounding garden is an oasis of calm amid the chaos of the city.
