Kaziranga National Park,a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to about two-thirds of the world’s Great One-horned Rhinoceroses.
Chasing a competitor away
The advantage of a jeep vs an elephant safari is that one can cover a lot more ground and quickly move from one section of the part to another. It is a good way to spot a wide variety of animals including the one horned rhinoceroses, wild buffaloes, elephants, tigers, deers, bears, and monitor lizards.
Kaziranga National Park Ranges
The park is divided into the following divisions.
- Kohora (Central) Range
- Bagori (Western) Range
- Agoratoli (Eastern) Range
- Burapahar (Ghoraketi) Range
- Panbari Reserved Forest
Kaziranga National Park is a vast expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical moist broadleaf forests, crisscrossed by four rivers, including the Brahmaputra.
Although hiking is prohibited in the park, observation towers have been provided at Sohola, Mihimukh, Kathpara, Foliamari, and Harmoti for wildlife viewing.
