Gwalior Fort is about 2 miles long and more than 300 ft tall. While Mughals primarily used this fort as a prison, the earlier Hindu dynasties including the Kachhwahas and Tomars contributed towards the architecture of this menacing fort.
The main entrance to the fort is through the Urwahi Gate.
Jain rockcut sculptures
The eastern side of the fort is home to a collection of 22 rock cut Jain sculptures. The sculptures have been defaced by Babur, the first Mughal Emperor.
Saas Bahu Temples
The Saas temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and the smaller Bahu temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Gurudwara Datta Bandi Chorh Sahib
This Gurdwara is associated with the imprisonment and the eventual release of Guru Har Gobind Sahib from Gwalior Fort.
