Baz Bahadur Mahal
Baz Bahadur, the last independent ruler of Malwa, features in many Indian folk stories for his love for the Hindu singer Rupmati. His palace constructed in 1509, is a mix of Rajasthani and Mughal styles.
Stairs to the roof
Baz Bahadur built this pavilion to persuade Rupmati to move closer to his palace.
Their love story came to a tragic end when Rupmati killed herself before Akbar’s Army could reach the Mandu Fort.
