Jaisalmer Fort, one of the largest forts in the world, was built in 1156 AD by Rawal Jaisal. It stands amidst the golden stretches of the Thar Desert.
This is the second oldest fort in Rajasthan. It is about 250 feet tall with 99 bastions.
Situated atop the Trikuta Hills, the fort was an important centre as it was on the ancient caravan routes.
This group of 7 Jain temples, dedicated to the various Tirthankars, dates back to the 12th and 15th centuries.
The complex designs of pillars and carvings highlight the architectural excellence of the period.
