Shimla, located along a 12 km ridge, has fantastic views of the neighboring snow capped peaks. It was the Summer Capital during the British Raj.

Chail, temple in the clouds
A lovely path through the cedar woods led us down from Hotel Himneel to the bazaar. I loved this walk and wished every trek we undertook would be this scenic.
Chail Palace
Chail Palace was constructed by the Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in 1891. He had a row with the British because of which he was expelled from Shimla.
Kali ka Tibba
The temple dedicated to goddess Kali, located atop Blossom Hill, offers fabulous views of the Shivalik Range and the Choor Chandni peak.
World’s Highest Cricket Ground, Chail
Chail, spread over three hills (Pandhawa, Rajgarh, Sidh Tibba), is a great place for leisurely walks. The walk to the Cricket Ground is a very pleasant one with short detours to the Gurudwara Sahib and Sidh Baba Mandir.
Hotel Alasi, Kasauli
Our large double-room was really nice with wood flooring, which we prefer over musty carpets or cold marble.
Churches of Kasauli
Built in 1853, Christchurch is the oldest church in Himachal Pradesh. Interestingly, the Sunday service is held in Hindi.

Kasauli, a walker’s paradise ( Himachal Pradesh )
Kasauli’s main town is made of just 2 streets – the westward Upper Mall Rd and the eastward Lower Mall Rd. The two meet near the shops and food stalls that are just above the bus stand.
