Tickets have been booked !
This past week has been quite eventful; two important steps, towards our trip, were taken – we booked our one-way (yeah, one-way) tickets to Bombay and were also sworn-in as US citizens.
We passed the citizenship test !
Madhu can walk to the Caltrain station everyday for work, which has reduced our dependence on 2 cars. Now we can sell one of them (the convertible) quickly
Another milestone completed – moved to an apt
We spent the weekend selling stuff and packing the rest. Given the amount of things we had either trashed or placed in the garage for sale, we thought that we wouldn’t have much to pack
Almost sold
It’s been exactly 3 weeks since we accepted the offer on the house. The financing contingency was removed last week, which means that the sale is going through.
There are five offers!
I had no clue that selling a house would involve so much work. Once the house was staged and cleaned, we had to ensure that it remained in that pristine condition even while we lived there.
We are selling!
We spent last weekend cleaning out our cabinets and closets, and moving some of our furniture to the garage. That gave our realtor enough space to ‘stage’ the home professionally.
Family is in on it
Moreover, driving in India is not easy, especially withcrazy truck drivers on the roads. But over time I have realized that having a car at our disposal will definitely make it easier to travel around without having to rely on public transport.
Financial consultant blesses the plan
Last night we met with our tax/financial consultant. Madhu had sent him a lengthy email regarding our plans and the questions we need answered. We figured that we needed to give him some time to think thru our idea and look for potholes.
