Itinerary

Days 1-2

Chennai (Madras)
Revel in an exciting mix of modern commercialism and tropical languor, hang out with the locals along Marina Beach, check out the museums, palaces and bazaars.

Days 3-4

Mamallapuram
Relax on the beaches, cycle around the village exploring the gorgeous temples. Indulge in a feast of freshly caught seafood by the beach.

Days 5-6

Poducherry (Pondicherry)
Follow the scenic south coast of India to French-influenced Pondicherry and visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Auroville.

Day 7

Madurai
Weave through streets filled with bazaars, pilgrims and rickshaws and explore the labyrinthine corridors of the Sri Meenakshi Temple.

Day 8

Varkala
Take a dip in the Arabian Sea, sip chai at a cliff-top cafe, and visit the ancient Janardhana Temple.

Days 9-10

Alleypey
Cruise past palm trees, rice fields and coconut groves on a sunset boat trip through the winding backwaters of Kerala.

Days 11-12

Kochi
Explore this fascinating city which is an invigorating mix of Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and English influences. Visit the spice bazaars, the beautiful Dutch Palace and catch a Kathakali dance performance.

Days 13-14

Mysore
Famous for its silk, incense and sandalwood, relaxed Mysore also boasts amazing temples. Climb the Chamundi Hill and visit the Maharaja’s Palace.

Days 15-17

Hampi
Wander through the ruins of the glorious Vijayanagar Empire, nestled in an outlandish boulder-strewn landscape. It also has plenty of temples, chilled cafes and great little markets to explore.

Days 18-20

Goa
Discover how the hot climate and colonial Portuguese past has influenced this beachside town. If time permits hang around for a few extra days to enjoy the spoils of paradise.
