Leh Fort (Tsemo Fort) is located, further up from the Leh Palace, on top of the Namgyal Tsemo Hill. It also served as the royal residence of the Namgyals.

Leh Tour of Old Town
We climbed all the way, huffing and puffing, and were rewarded with fantastic views of the old town. At the top, it was nice to wander around aimlessly.
Ladakh Leh Tour of New Town
Shanti Stupa, which could be spotted from anywhere in town as it is located at the end of Changspa, on the top of a steep hill.
Hotel Samdupling, Alchi
Hotel Samdupling’s best feature is its lovely flower garden. My eyes were immediately drawn to the bushes of roses of varied colors – they were gorgeous!
Alchi Monastery
About one-thirds way to Alchi Monastery, the famed Indus (Sindhu) River came into view, flowing northwestward towards Pakistan. The highway runs along its right bank almost until Leh.
Hotel Niranjana, Lamayuru
The double-bed and comforters were clean and comfortable. Shelves on the wall provided ample storage and a couple of chairs to lounge in.
Lamayuru Gompa
Twice a year, all the lamas gather for prayers, accompanied by three days of masked dancing.
Kargil to Lamayuru
Shergol is situated across the river, right off the Kargil-Leh highway. The main attraction is a cave monastery which is visible from far as a white speck.
Drive to Lamayuru
The first few miles out of Kargil were rough and bumpy but soon it smoothened out and we relaxed enjoying the scenery along the way.
