Hotel Shelton Grand, Bangalore

Since the trip to Bengaluru was a last-minute one, we didn’t find time to research hotels a whole lot. Moreover our train would get into the city only by 7:30pm, which was kinda late to go hunting for a place to stay. While waiting in Coimbatore railway station’s Waiting Room, we searched online and were able to zero in on one that was located right in the thick of things with two entrances one on MG Road (albeit thru their restaurant) and another (the main one) on Church Street where all the restaurants and pubs are concentrated! So we immediately booked it and thankfully, didn’t regret the decision later.

Hotel Shelden Grand is s a 3-star place that seems to cater Bangalore mostly to business travelers. Its interiors are quite kitschy but also plush and very comfortable. Our double-room was moderately sized but felt a little crowded because of the excess furniture. However, we didn’t complain as the bed was super-comfortable, the air-conditioning worked well, there was ample storage space, the wall-mounted flat-screen TV had all the required channels and the bathroom was neat and functional.

The stay included breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant. This was a huge spread of continental as well as the usual south Indian fare. Staff was quite professional and courteous!

The location of the hotel is its best feature as most of the attractions were not too far away. Moreover, restaurants, pubs and shops were within walking distance, which made it quite a lively place to be in. Overall, it was quite a comfortable stay!
