Konark Sun Temple
Konark Sun Temple is a 13th century Sun Temple, built in black granite stone by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty. Konark is actually a combination of two words – kona (corner) and arka (Sun). This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the earliest centres of Sun worship in India.
Rabindranath Tagore had referred to the temple as ‘Poetry in Stone’.

Awesome! and the last pic is great! all local umbrellas, i take it?
Yes, all from Pipli 🙂 Looks like they made a stop at Pipli on the way here.
Seriously, your photography is gifted. Have you considered publishing a photo journal in a book?
Such beautiful photos! That last snap is beautiful. Most people do make a stop at Pipli enroute but all them using the umbrellas at the same time is really a photographer’s delight. Wish I could click one such snap. 🙂
Hi Sharmila,
