Mandu : Rewa Kund Group of Monuments
The monuments of Mandu have been classified into different groups based on location. Baz Bahadur Mahal and Rupmati’s Pavilion are collectively referred to as the Rewa Kund Group of monuments.
The Rewa Kund group of monuments, associated with the legendary romance between Sultan Baz Bahadur and Rupmati, are located about 4 kms south of Mandu Village.
Baz Bahadur Mahal
Baz Bahadur, the last independent ruler of Malwa, features in many Indian folk stories for his love for the Hindu singer Rupmati. His palace constructed in 1509, is a mix of Rajasthani and Mughal styles.

Baz Bahadur built this pavilion to persuade Rupmati to move closer to his palace.

Their love story came to a tragic end when Rupmati killed herself before Akbar’s Army could reach the Mandu Fort.
