Mashobra Hotels : Rock Heaven
Hotel Rock Heaven had great reviews among the Mashobra Hotels in the guidebooks, so we called them in advance and booked ourselves a room for 3 nights. Located right 
by the state highway that runs through the village of Mashobra on to Naldehra and beyond, the 4-storied structure clings to the cliff-side with the reception facing the road and the rooms facing south to the valley below. The reception, kitchen and restaurant areas are actually on the topmost floor while the rooms are in the floors below.
Our double-room was a Deluxe one; it was bigger than their Standard ones. Its most fantastic feature, though, was a large bay window that gave a fantastic view of the valley below and of Shimla and other towns on the mountains ahead! A day-bed was built against this window, providing a great place to sit and gaze out at the lovely scenery! The double-bed was placed exactly across from this window, so great views could be had while lying there as well – it was just perfect!
Since the hotel is about a kilometer away from the village, we ate all our meals at their on-site restaurant. And thankfully, their cook turned out to be really good. Apart from the regular Indian dishes, their Chinese stuff was also quite good – loved the Chicken Chowmein!
Having a comfortable room with a lovely view and a great restaurant to eat at, is more than what we need in a hotel stay. But what made Rock Heaven even better was its staff. Everybody was warm and super-polite. Their service was always exceptional, which made the stay feel quite luxurious, in spite of the fact that it was just a budget hotel.
Rating: Great location + comfortable rooms with great views + good food + great service = 8 out of 10!
