Zojila Pass

Zojila Pass, the link between Srinagar and Leh

Zojila Pass is a high mountain pass located on Indian National Highway 1D between Srinagar and Leh.

It runs at an elevation of approximately 3,528 metres (11,575 ft), and is the second highest pass after Fotu La on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway.

This is about 9 km from Sonamarg and provides the vital link between Ladakh and Kashmir.

After crossing the pass

Though referred to as Zojila Pass, the correct English translation is Zoji Pass or simply Zojila, since the suffix ‘La’ means pass in the local languages.
