Mahansar, Shekhawati

Mahansar, a quaint little town in the Shekhawati region, was founded in 1768 by the Shekhawat Thakurs. It is located in Jhunjhunu district.

Apart from the exquisite painted havelis and murals, it is quite popular for its heritage liquour which has been dubbed as ‘Mahansar Wine’.

Mahansar Fort

Mahansar Fort was founded by Thakur Nahar Singh in 1768. The Thakurs of Mahansar were vested with judicial powers and any orders passed by the Mahansar Thakurs were not appeal-able.

This fort palace has been converted into a Heritage Hotel managed by Kunwar Bhagwati Singh, a descendant of Thakur Nahar Singh.

Sone ki Dukan (Jewellery shop), built in 1846, is the highlight of this sleepy hamlet.
