South Goa Beaches
Goa’s spectacular coastline is home to numerous stretches of golden sand beaches, hidden coves and remote sanctuaries of sun drenched bliss.
The southern part of the state in particular is famed for moving at a slower pace, being less touristy and more untouched than the northern region which attracts more hedonistic partying and commercial nature of resort and package holidays.
Beginning from Margao, the transport hub for the southern region of the state, there are many stunning destinations in south Goa that represent the epitome of paradise in India.

Palolem
A gleaming white sandy bay, Palolem Beach is an ideal spot for families, couples and travellers looking for a chilled vibe.
The 10pm noise ban has enforced a casual night life but there is no lack of ambiance all along the beach each evening. An array of bars, restaurants and cheap huts line the beach and the little village of shops and market stalls is a hive of activity.
Dolphin tours, kayaking and excursions to neighbouring beaches are popular activities here. A favourite spot for many Indian families, it can get especially busy on weekends.
Patnem
Slowly becoming more noticed by visitors to the region, Patnem Beach is a quieter alternative to Palolem Beach which is accessible by a short walk over the headland.
With a fantastic selection of quality restaurants and range of budget to mid-range accommodations, a stay on Patnem lets you enjoy a slower pace safe in the knowledge that a party or change of scenery is just around the corner in Palolem if you seek it.
Agonda
The next beach north of Palolem, Agonda is a picturesque 3km golden sand cove. With few bars, restaurants and resorts cluttering the beach, there is no issue finding a spot on the beach where you can enjoy peaceful solitude under a palm tree.
Arriving by scooter or taxi, it is an easy day trip if you are staying at one of the nearby beaches but make sure you take all the necessities as facilities are few and far between. The tidal currents can often be strong here so be careful while swimming.
Colva
This romantic 20km of pristine white sand is beloved among Goans who are attracted by this vibrant beach destination that has it all. Fully self contained with a wide range of accommodation types, bars and restaurants and bustling night life, you never have to leave its confines.
Benaulim
This fairly untouched paradise is a haven for those seeking something a little more tranquil than Colva. Famous for the local handicrafts including quality rosewood furniture and the Church of St John the Baptist that is located on the hill, a stay here won’t leave you disappointed.
