The temples have been built as per the traditional Western Himalayan style – alternate layers of stone and timber. This style ensures that during earthquakes, the structures sway instead of resisting the quake.

The Harmony Hall, built by Stokes in 1912, has an unique architecture with elements from the local pahadi architecture mixed with those from the West. It was named after his ancestral home in New Jersey.

He offered to take us to the village temple in the middle of Marijuana and Pea fields. I think the pea plants were more of a decoy.
