Gautam Guesthouse, Khajjiar

Gautam Guesthouse

As usual we had not booked a hotel in advance for our stay. Khajjiar Gautam Guesthouse We’ve always managed to find a place, though. In this peak season all hotels in the mid-range and upwards category get booked out well in advance by the vacationing families, leaving us with the lower-end budget hotels. Sometimes we’ve found real cheap gems in this category and sometimes we’ve been stuck with some sad ones like the one at Mcleodganj. In Khajjiar, thankfully, we found a gem…

Gautam Guesthouse is a 2-storied structure built in a nicely landscaped property with fantastic views of Gautam Guesthouse, Khajjiar Khajjiar’s Deodhar forest. It’s located just a few meters up the street from the meadow, making it close enough to the main attraction, yet away from traffic and chaos. It’s also cheap at Rs.750 for a small double-room with tiled floors and Rs.950 for a large double-room that could easily accommodate a family. The bathroom is tiled, clean and basic with geysers for hot water. They don’t have a restaurant but room service is available. Food was pretty good especially the chicken curry that we had both nights. The staff was extremely efficient and quite friendly. Overall, for the price, it was quite a comfortable, hassle-free stay.
