Sani, 6 kms NW of Padum, is where the Stod Valley broadens into the central plain of Zanskar. The Sani Gompa belongs to the Drukpa Kargyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, and is the only one of this order in Zanskar which has nuns.
It is the oldest place of worship in the region.
Interesting pics… J&K is heaven for visitors… I like the backdrop of snowy mountains and sunshine lightening them look more beautiful.
Hi Mohan,
Welcome to our 10YI !
Yes, J&K is a very special place … it’s sad how things have changed out there since our visit. Hope it gets resolved soon.
Cheers!
Madhu
beautiful images!!!
Thanks a lot, Magic Eye.
It was a beautiful Gompa. Unfortunately it was closed when we got there. Hence we were unable to take a peek inside the Gompa.
