The Theosophical Society Chennai
Founded by Madame Blavatsky and Col. Olott, the Theosophical Society is a worldwide organization whose primary objective is universal brotherhood for the benefit of humanity.
In 1882, the society was moved to Adyar in Chennai. It now runs a library and houses places of worship for all faiths. Theosophy is now an active philosophical school, and through its process of schism it has also given rise to other mystical, philosophical and religious organizations.
